Stand Simulator

The Stand Simulator runs the stand assignment engine for a hypothetical flight and shows how every stand at the airport ranked. Use it to check that an airport's stand profiles send each aircraft where you expect before pilots book, and to understand why a past booking got the stand it did.

Path: Backoffice > Tools > Stand Simulator

Required permission: View airports

Running a simulation

  1. Choose Arrival or Departure. An arrival evaluates the airport's origin route filters; a departure evaluates its destination filters.
  2. Pick the airport whose stands you want to test. Only airports with stands configured are listed.
  3. Optionally pick where the flight is coming from (arrival) or going to (departure). Leave it empty to see how stands with route filters behave when the route is unknown.
  4. Pick the aircraft. The airline defaults to the one operating it; change it to test a schedule flown under another airline.
  5. Click Simulate.

Reading the result

The result card names the stand the engine would assign and which pass produced it:

PassMeaning
Matched a stand that admits this flightNormal outcome. A stand whose equipment and route filters both admit the flight was found.
No stand admits this aircraftEvery stand excludes the aircraft or airline. The engine assigned a route-matching stand anyway, ignoring the equipment filters. Add an unrestricted stand or widen a filter if this is not intended.
Every stand is route-filtered against this flightThe engine assigned one anyway and logged a warning. Add a stand without route filters for this direction, or loosen the filters.
This airport has no standsNothing to assign; bookings get no stand data.

The ranking table lists every stand in the order the engine considered them:

  • Filters — the stand's airline, fleet, subfleet and route filters, as the briefing shows them. Unrestricted means none are set.
  • Equipment / Route — whether the stand's filters admit this aircraft and airline, and this route.
  • Score — equipment points (subfleet 4, fleet 3, airline 2 per matched filter) plus route points (one per matching route filter). Higher ranks first.
  • Occupancy — aircraft parked on the stand plus bookings already inbound to it. Lower ranks first among equal scores.
  • Selected — the stand the engine picked. Ties are broken at random on every real booking, so an equal stand may be picked next time.

A Duplicate badge marks stand names that appear more than once at the airport (for example, one row per fleet for the same gate). Each row is tracked separately, so two aircraft can be sent to the same physical stand; merge the rows into one stand with several fleets or airlines selected.
